MINIS and Ice Cream

With less than a month to go, its time to start thinking about MINIs... and ice cream.
With participants from Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachussetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia all heading towards Savannah on June the 9th. They will be leaving their first stop, Sandford, Florida that morning, with many of the cars and drivers coming down on the Amtrack Car Train. The Great Ice Cream Run then continues north all the way to Bar Harbor, Maine, with a perfectly timed arrival for the MINIs On Top annual drive up Mt Washington on June 17th. The Governor of New Hampshire, John H. Lynch, declared June 17th Official MINI Cooper Day in the state.
The route includes stops in Satesville, North Carolina, Staunton Virginia, Frackville, Pennsylvania , Sturbridge, Massachusetts , Rockland, Maine and finishing in Bar Harbor Maine for the official end of The Great Ice Cream Run. For those who are signed up for MINIs on Top, either spend the night in Bar Harbor and enjoy the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain the next day, OR head over into New Hampshire to join the pre-MOT festivities!
Even more important than the route, is the reason! An east coast pilgrimage to as many ice cream shops as your stomach can handle as well as raising some money along the way to help the Make a Wish Foundation grant terminally ill kids their greatest heart's desires!

There seem to be so many MINI events this summer, so it will be very nice to actually have one come through our town, Savannah and for us to show off our local historic ice cream parlor Leopold's that dates back to 1919. Even if you don't have a MINI, you should make it to Leopold's at 212 East Broughton Street, Savannah, Georgia, on the evening of June 9th.
